3 weeks back I brought my pair of shih tzus to the veteran for a distemper injection. George weighs in at 19 and a half pounds and Eve and sixteen and half lbs. The two of them are most happy when they are meeting their friendly vet soon, I think it is an attention thing. Eve insisted on moving in first by evoking such a protest, George followed with his tail between his legs.
Eve ran back out when the veterinary doctor had completed examining her Something strange then happenned Eve began to vomit and within five minutes was vomiting all over the vet. Our shih tzu was so sick she couldnt displace not even an inch. We lingered in the hope that her state would improve rather rapidly. It went from bad to worse, she lost control of her bowl, and didn't seem to be able to crack down on anything.
Our vet John was very quick off the market and got some steroids into our shitzu as fast as he could. We waited with baited breath over the period of the next 10 minutes to see what outcome this steroid would have on her. The rate of her breathing was all over the place sometimes it was fast sometimes it was slow. We took her to a specialty hospital where she was admitted in grave condition There was only so much John could do so we brought her to a special hospital for pets. The following 24 hours were critical and we didnt know if she would pull through the night.
The dog clinic took very good care of her and made sure she got her endovenous drip and oxygen as well. Few people in the clinic were particularly optimistic about the possible result for our shih tzu dog . She spent most of the week in this hospital, being given fluids, plasma, antibiotics, and a lot of TLC.What happened was she suffered from anaphylaxis shock, if you have ever seen someone eat peanuts and is allergic then you know what I am talking about. But, my little girl came through this, marvelously. She is recovering at home.
Feeding a little at a time, drinking, but sleeping a lot. Her road to recover has been a tough one but she will be in normal state within a couple of weeks, of that I am 100 per cent positive. It is marvelous how much I now know about these injections that are given to dogs, I spend a huge amount of time exploring the on the cyberspace.
I have found out that the shih tsu breed are the number one to react to them.I am on a bit of movement now to make sure people manage to get "full disclosure".The fee was shocking although I didnt mind paying it at all at the time as it saved our dogs life.I really believe strongly though that people should never have to see what happenned to us.
